Upstream provides updates for the release 1 by pushing commits to the git branch named 1-stable
These commits are expected to not break any API, ABI or user interface.
Intended uses of such commits are to adjust the codebase for new hardware and new dependencies.
Downstream packagers that need more stability for their deployments can use date-based tags in their local git mirros.
