To be considered valid a filters (aka process) should provide:

unit test
functional tests (with ad hoc data)
a CLI example
developers documentation (with design notes)
a user guide
optionally a presentation
For the documentations use open formats (slideTeX or LibreOffice formats) as opposed to some proprietary format (PowerPoint or Word)
