Hi,
the file CHANGES mentions a commit "updates in preparation for 4.0.0-beta.1". From the tags I can only find release-2-3-1
from 22 Mar 2006 which is probably based on the SourceForge release. If there is any intermediate release it would be really helpful to update the Debian package if you could tag the releases accordingly.

The mpqc 2 branch is legacy; mpqc-3 is packaged as mpqc3 in Debian and if mpqc4 is ever released it's maybe going to be another source package yet again, we'll see.

In any case, tagging anything won't help with the gcc-11 bug.
