In case you're wondering when I did this, the first 3 images show a date/time in the bottom right corner. If you can't read something in these images -- or any images anywhere on GitHub -- just click the image. That opens the image in a separate browser window. You can then use the browser's magnify function (Ctrl-+) to see anything you need to. I say again. If YouTube is rolling out something new, it hasn't hit here. But it's been 2 weeks since this was first raised so I'm pretty sure there's nothing being changed at YouTube that affects VDH. Clearly, I am having no problems of any kind downloading content from YouTube. I'm running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 23H2 build 22631.3958, Firefox 129.0 64-bit, licensed VDH 9.1.0.41 beta, CoApp 2.0.20. |

I can't access that video because it is restricted to members of the channel. However, there is a long-standing issue with YouTube content that requires a login. Perhaps your case is in this other category. Worse, it may be a victim of both the login problem and the other problem that seems to be spreading slowly. Maybe Paul can figure that out. |

For what it's worth, on Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 23H2 build 22631.3958, Firefox 128.0.3 64-bit, licensed VDH 9.1.0.41 beta, CoApp 2.0.19, VDH is able to download this video for me without a problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYOVTtfGhDk It was just released a couple of hours ago. If there is something being rolled out across the YouTube Network, it is taking much longer to reach me than other similar events in the past. |

Eu tenho a chave do Chrome e comprei do firefox só por causa do youtube, hoje não consegui usar, não está reconhecendo video nenhum, mas cedo estranhei a maneira q ele estava reconhecendo os videos depois não fez nenhum reconhecimento. e nem consigo resetar a configuração ate desinstalar e instalar de novo não funcionou. |

I continue to have no problems with YouTube. It seems like this issue is very much geographic. Maybe YouTube announced something. Has anybody read any sort of announcement from YouTube that they are curtailing service in certain countries? |

While connected through my VPN provider, I can't download any video from Youtube (video not detected). When switching off the VPN, I can download all videos. Might Youtube be doing something nasty in the background when they detect a VPN? |

I had the same problem using VDH on Firefox with ExpressVPN. I switched from my default Atlanta server to Washington D.C. and now VDH detects and can download the videos. |

This is the video I downloaded.
Aside from the fact that the subject does not interest me, there is no way I'm sitting here watching a 3-hour video. I just skimmed it to make sure it was all here, with audio. It was. The video goes to completely black at about 40 minutes in. I gather this is intentional. There are credits at the very end so I don't think over 2 hours of completely black video is evidence of a damaged video. As I suggested above, did you check this video with the URL I posted above in my comment dated August 24? |

I also had this issue, and then turned off my VPN provider (private internet access), which was connected to a US server, and then I was able to download videos again. |

Russia, YouTube videos are not detected when using "Private Internet Access" VPN (Firefox & Chrome), but it works great on other services UPD: This seems to apply to videos that have the "Log in to your account to confirm that you are not a bot" protection. But video is available if login is successfully (this message is detected without a login) |

I'm not getting any YouTube videos recognized for download. And I have another video download software that isn't working to download YouTube videos either. But Video Download helper is downloading videos from other websites like Vimeo, Bitchute, etc. I'm not sure what the problem is. I am logged in and have a Premium YouTube account. |

That video finally made it down. I am not surprised about the slowness (100KB/sec) as my internet is getting some packet loss at the moment. BUT I downloaded one from Rumble and it was running at over 1MB/sec. Youtube sucks. |

I'm now using Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 24H2 build 26100.2605, Firefox 134.0 64-bit, licensed VDH 9.1.0.41 beta, CoApp 2.0.20. Now, I'm not trying to make you jealous or anything, just reporting what I observed.
The speed of the download started really slow but very gradually got up to what you can see in the second image there. By the time it completed, the speed had reached very nearly 23M. I'm guessing that if the video had been any longer, the download speed would have continued to gradually rise past that speed. If you divide the file size by the download time, you get approximately 22M as the average download speed. I did play it in VLC, although you can be sure I didn't sit & watch a video of a bit over 2 & 1/2 hours. I just skimmed it, sampling it at intervals to make sure it had audio & video at each sample point, which it did, right to the end. I really wish I knew what the deal is with this. I don't have any antivirus besides the one built into Windows 11. I am also not using a VPN. You'll notice, if you look carefully, that I am not signed in on YouTube, either. These are all factors that have influenced errors for other people. I can't explain why I'm not having any problems with YouTube & haven't ever -- except for that one period around May/June/July 2023 when VDH really didn't work on YouTube. But since then, I have yet to experience a problem with YouTube. |

Yes it is obviously badly affected by the poor network speed of the satellite link, and packet loss also would impact on the download here. I noticed that the one I did get down yesterday has the video and sound about 10 seconds out of sync. Bugger. |

Just reporting back. My install of Video DownloadHelper started working
again when I disabled my VPN. Thanks for the help, everyone.

I did nothing and it all of a sudden worked for a couple days, now today it's back not detecting any video. I turned off all of the anti-virus and ad blockers before my original post and it didn't help. |

No Youtube videos detected here in South Africa, whether using a VPN linked to our country or not. When I change the VPN to Glasgow (first one I tried), video was detected and could download. |

Well, that was not the answer, i.e. thinking it was the google 2 step as that is the only thing that was/is different from the 2 computers. Back to confused. Must be a setting on primary computer that I'm unaware that is preventing from successfully downloading yt video. |

With Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 24H2 build 26100.2605, Firefox 134.0 64-bit, licensed VDH 9.1.0.41 beta, CoApp 2.0.20, that video downloads just fine here (Cincinnati, Ohio, USA):
If you divide the file size by the download time, it works out to a bit over 38 million bytes per second. Plays just fine in VLC, too:
You can see the video is fine. Note that I downloaded the 4K MKV that was available. You'll have to take my word for it that the audio was also fine. |

There are 2 standard bits of advice in cases where a lot of content isn't working in VDH.
Other than that, I don't know what to do. If I saw errors, I might work through figuring out how to get around them. But I'm not seeing errors so I have no better advice, especially since I'm just another user. Which is to say, I don't have access to the source code. Even if I did, I probably couldn't figure it out anyway. We can only hope our dev can figure it out. |

Hello! In Spain, I can't detect any video on YouTube through Firefox (I have a premium license for Firefox with Video Downloadhelper). A fellow hockey fan. Welcome! So . . . you said 3 examples but you posted 4 URLs. Except 2 of them point to the same highlights of a US/Finland game. Whatever, I ended up downloading that twice. The 3 hockey highlights came in fine & played fine. The soccer one took much longer. For some reason, the hockey highlights got great download speed but the soccer video got pretty slow speed. And wouldn't you know it? That one is a little over 45 minutes long, whereas the hockey highlights are all between 10 & 15 minutes long. I have never figured out why YouTube gives great download speed on some things & putrid speed on others. Nevertheless, all 4 URLs gave me videos that VDH downloaded without incident & they all played find in VLC, although I didn't sit & watch them, just skimmed them to make sure they had audio & video, which they did. You've "already been informed." Do share what that information is. |

Every single youtube video does not appear available. All fine 4/1/2025 aside from a new 'adult' flagged video on Youtube with any video with swearing in the title not downloading. On the 10/1/2025 about 15% of videos did not download - were found but errored out on download. 10/1/2025 as of 11:30 am, no videos showing. Checked multiple aged videos (going back 13+ years, modern ones and ones downloaded the day before - no download link showing. Do not have youtube professional, do have a valid license for download helper app. No VPN set up. Since that date/time I have managed to download 2 videos that randomly popped up. (Clicked on about 10 and one popped up when I closed the tab that had that video and clicked on the next tab. One gave a download link but a second, then it vanished. Have updated everything, restarted, tried the beta version of download helper. Australia, unfiltered ISP. (and just as my music video drive died....) |
