Does the plugin work with UL versions of NG devices?

I have tried to use the Shelley NG plugin with Shelly Plus 1 PM, but Homebridge outputs an error Failed to add discovered device (id: shellyplus1pm-b8d61a889338): Error connecting to device (code: 1006).

Is the plugin strictly compatible with the non-UL versions of Shelly Plus 1 PM (and similar devices available in both UL and non-UL versions)?

With the devices technically so similar, it would seem it should be easy to include compatibility with both versions, no?
