Is this a feature relevant to companion itself, and not a module?

I believe this to be a feature for companion, not a module

Is there an existing issue for this?

I would like to

access the module status set e.g. with this.updateStatus('connecting')
subscribe to updates emitted on status changes

in order to simplify reconnect status

Usecases

module development - automatic recovery from connection issues.
