Hey Matt. I read the roadmap with interest. I hope you don't mind me asking a question?

Did you not feel it to be a business risk, opening sourcing so much of "the plan", before you could implement? Or, was it the case that you were confident that your IP and niche was so specialist it would be difficult to copy before Ockam could bring it to market?

I could imagine as a small company owner following your lead - I can see the advantages - but I'd be very concerned that deeper pockets with more headcount could capitalise on the roadmap we laid out, before we could.

Interested to hear your thoughts if you get a chance.

• This roadmap isn't novel. Check out of the references at the bottom of the blog. Anyone that would be a competitor to Ockam probably already knows this roadmap.

• Open source is a competitive deterrent IMO. Why would someone build the same thing as us? Because...

1. It's exceptionally difficult to build what we are building.
2. We are very focused on a specific problem and its solution.
3. A much better idea, for someone/a company that is passionate about this space, is to build an Ockam Add-on. There are all sorts of products and companies that could be started based on an Ockam foundation. The edge/IoT/cloud services space has so much green field space for all sorts of players to enter this market, that it's more likely that someone in this market is a partner - not a competitor.
