Every chapter should be split into sections. Every chapter should begin with a section labelled “x.1 Introduction” and end with a section “x.y Conclusions”. The introduction - in 2-3 sentences – provides an overview of the contents of the chapter. The conclusion summarises what has been said and provides links to the next chapter. Overall, this may sound rather daft, but it usually makes the document 100x easier to read.
