The fourth [http://www.delph-in.net DELPH-IN] Summit will be held between July 31 and Aug 3rd, 2008 in Kyoto, Japan, directly following [http://www2.nict.go.jp/x/x161/en/member/bond/hpsg-2008/ HPSG-2008].
The purposes of this meeting are to:
- update each other on recent developments and current activities;
- discuss more what we actually expect from DELPH-IN (and each other);
- create the opportunity for contentful exchange on computational grammar research in the DELPH-IN spirit
Please register on the ParticipantsGroup page by adding the times when you plan to arrive and depart. Note that this is a closed summit, you need to be on the ParticipantsGroup page to edit it.
The meeting will take place in [http://www.keihanna-park.jp/kouen_taniai.html#kouen_bizitasenta Keihanna Commerative Park Visitor's center], in the Kansai Science and Culture City. This is near the [http://www.atr.jp/html/access/access.html ATR], [http://www.kecl.ntt.co.jp/rps/index.html NTT Communication Science ] and [http://www2.nict.go.jp/x/x151/index_en.html NICT] research labs].
Please see the HPSG-2008 [http://www2.nict.go.jp/x/x161/en/member/bond/hpsg-2008/hotel-e.html accommodation page].
We would like to hear your preferences and suggestions on the following:
- topics that you'd like to see discussed at the summit;
- topics that you'd like to present at the summit;
- the type of your presentation to be more specific, we are currently thinking of including in the program (a) shorter status reports on the research carried out in our various DELPH-IN participating institutions, and (b) longer detailed presentations on specialised DELPH-IN research issues; (c) demos of systems, tools, lingware and resources
- your preference on tutorials; should we have a couple in this year's summit, as well?
Please email me ([email protected]) or add them directly to the wiki here:
Suggestions:
- outreach activities with the HPSG participants (FCB)
- student session
- try to get (constructive) feedback for PhD work, rather than just give a status update.
- see how new work can be fed back to the mainstream
- mentoring ? it may be good to have comments/support from a DELPH-IN member not from your school
- parallel corpus comparison?
- try to parse some text beforehand and look at issues cross-lingusitically
