Firstly, thank you for developing the ReLERNN software; it has been instrumental in our research on calculating recombination rates in domestic animals. Our paper using this tool has been submitted and is currently under revision.

The reviewer has requested that we provide the recombination rate in units of cM/Mb as calculated by your software. In response, we have attempted to convert the crossover per base pair (c/bp) values obtained from ReLERNN to centimorgans per megabase (cM/Mb).

We understand that 1 cM/Mb is equivalent to t 1 cM/Mb corresponds to 1×10−2 crossovers per 1×106 base pairs, which equates to 1×10 −8 crossovers per base pair. Using this conversion factor, we have found that our results are in the same order of magnitude as those reported elsewhere in the literature, with a recombination rate of approximately 0.1 cM/Mb in our species, compared to the 3-5 cM/Mb range reported elsewhere.

However, we are unsure whether our method of conversion is correct or whether there are additional considerations we should take into account when transforming the data. Could you please advise us if our approach to converting the recombination rate from c/bp to cM/Mb is correct? If not, what would be the recommended procedure for this transformation?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated, as it will significantly help ensure the accuracy and robustness of our research.

hello. if we call r the rate of recombination per bp, then r = (cM/Mb) / (100 * 10^6)
