Describe the bug
Timeshift seems to be making hourly backup logs in /var/log/timeshift, with no automatic procedure of removing old logs. This results in taking up a lot of system storage that a lot of users may need to be freed up. My log directory took up about 100gb of storage across ~470 log files.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
No reproduction procedure - the logs are produced as a result of standard use of Timeshift for system backup and recovery

Expected behavior
I expect that a backup log system should automatically remove older logs, to not bloat up system storage or have hundreds of files like here.

Screenshots
Rather than a screenshot, here is a .txt result of ls -lagGAh /var/log/timeshift > logs.txt
logs.txt

Timeshift settings:
Snapshot Type: Btrfs
Auto-Snapshot Schedule (I've changed it in the past, but here is the current setting): Keep 4 Daily, Keep 2 Boot
User Home Directories: Include

System:

  • Linux Mint 21.3
  • Desktop Environment Cinnamon
  • Application Version: 24.01.1
