My Experience of GSoC Heat'18

After five days of development, This year's GSoC Heat has come to an end! This was my first-time contributing to an OpenSource project. For the first time, I felt I really did something.

Before the submission of proposal, I worked on the issue #17 and issue #81. Luckily before the announcement of GSoC Heat candidates, my first PR for the issue #17 got merged. As I proposed in the proposal, I spent my those five days on solving issue #87,#88 and #91

As I was working first time for GUI, so I learned a lot about GUIs during this project.I also learned how event-driven programming works. On Plotit's GUI I had to add new Radio Buttons to let the user choose between Line or Function plotting options, also add a new entry for a Step Size.

My mentor, Deepjyoti Mondal, was very helpful. He always helped me with the GUI development and git, I messed up with git several times, his suggestions are extremely helpful in those situations.I first solved the issues but the UX was awful, he guided me to improve the UX. I owe the completion of my project largely to him.

Lastly, I want to say that I am very satisfied with this GSoC project, it helped me to learn a lot about development. I want to help everyone around me and in the community, the same way in which I was helped.

Thank you, Everyone.
