It should be noted somewhere in the description that script only works correctly with jpg-based images; it creates a mess of a png images without background(it applies high saturation?)

Hmm it works fine on my machine. I've just tried it out with transparent PNGs and I don't see any strange changes to the saturation. Could you perhaps post a sample that highlights the issue? Maybe it's the specific PNGs which are causing it, or maybe it's your PC?
