Current convention on-site is to refer to the fields as "south field" and "north field". Scans will be constructed to scan north and south fields independent of each other, but generally similar in method. Multi-pass offsets (or the dependent overlap between passes) may vary with plot length. Range numbers (1-54 for south) will be continued into north field (55-??).
When measuring for potted plant experiment in early April, best estimate (average of 10 random positions in each field) was that north field height is 40 cm lower than that of south field. Variation between seasons is to be expected.
current field (south/original), new field (north)
north field is about 36cm lower
Should we consider doing separate scans.
Probably does not increase data size (currently scanning all daylight hours already).
