It is Windows issue not the ExplorerPatcher. You can avoid it the following way:

  • Backup your current configuration by Export current settings:

  • Uninstall ExplorerPatcher.
  • Install Windows 24H2 update.
  • Install ExplorerPatcher.
  • Restore your configuration by Import Settings:

If you haven't done this yet:

See the release notes here for the powershell script you can run that excludes all the directories necessary in windows defender: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases

The powershell script you must run with elevated privileges (right click on powershell and select run as administrator).

Future updates to EP won't be flagged then.

You can also set windows defender to exclude the directory that you manually download EP to so you can install it without windows defender blocking it.

if you get the error: 0x800106ba, it means Windows Defender is not active. You may have another antivirus program active, which means you need to add those files and directories to be excluded in your antivirus program.

Then you can install latest version of EP, that you then uninstall. Then follow the instructions from the previous comment above.

I am updating windows right now by uninstall EP :(, I will test this way in next Windows update. Thanks a lot!

Let me know once everything is done.

I'll be waiting for someone to report back after the update to confirm that the functionality of ExplorerPatcher hasn't been broken.

Sadly, I can not share new info about this with you. After updating, I had to revert that update because it broke my graphic drivers.

ExplorerPatcher works fine on 24H2, it's just Microsoft being Microsoft
