The reporter gave additional information that this was happening for creating dms. They also provided the address which I was successfully able to create a dm with on dev and production. This leads me to believe it's a key package issue for the sender? Not the recipient. More investigation needed.

it seems to be a know issue that have been fixed, but apparently it's still persisting.

I even tried it on https://xmtp.chat/conversations/new, and still getting the error

Please note this error only occurs when one or more extra member is set

Do you also mind sharing the logs when you get this error? You first need to enable logging in the top right settings
