Title. The cap is restricted to Security (barring Cadet), the Captain, and the XO.

I'd rather not have another uniform item be turned into a recolorable loadout item. It further dilutes any job differentiation - which is especially important for security, where uniforms are worn the most out of all the departments.

I'm totally fine with its addition to the loadout.
But if you want to add this in the game, there's some changes you need to do :

  • Rename it to corporate peaked cap selection
  • Make subtypes based on the colors of the security corporations.
  • Make it a selection and add said subtypes to it.
  • Limit it to security, the XO and Captain.
(There isn't really a good reason for a CE/CMO to be wearing a peaked cap.)

My personal rule of thumb is, if it's job restricted, department limited, and part of an existing uniform, it should be a corporate color selection.

If it's an off-duty clothing item, something that you wouldn't be written up by CCIA for wearing a strange color of, or something your character would find comfortable wearing at home, it would be applicable to be turned into a recolorable.

There is no reasonable explanation why someone should be wearing a hot pink peaked cap. (although realistic for a character to have one, they'd be immediately be written up by CCIA anyway.) Yes, you could argue that people will only really use it to match their uniforms, that's true, but if you went through with the selection - it'd be easier for them to select the one that matches their corporation, rather than fiddling with the color system for hour or two with all the other useless colors.

Peaked cap fits into a "maritime" or professional sailor aesthetic. I'd use it as CE for sure imo. So I think it'd fit outside of just security
