2022 EIC Wishlist

List topics for discussion by the coordination committee

• Typical year inventories - some sectors, like fires, may be best represented by an averaged emissions profile for use in future year air quality forecasting; will the 2022EIC expend effort on building typical year inventories, or will this activity be the responsibility of downstream users of the 2022EIC data?
• Representative base year - Which sectors can use a single, representative year and which sectors need actual emissions due to episodic activity patterns?
• Pandemic impacts - For the 2020 NEI, which sectors are most impacted by the pandemic activity patterns, and the extent to which these patterns are actually reflected in the NEI 2020 data.
• Projection inventories - Which inventory sectors can keep activity constant for future year emissions projections?
• Future OTB controls - How would options for additional federal rule-based emissions reductions requirements be tested against projections for federal source categories in regional modeling, for ozone and visibility/regional haze planning?
• Nonpoint Combustion - Can we parse the nonpoint residential and commercial stationary source natural gas use inventory into HVAC, cooking, and water heating; the motivation for this approach is to support the analysis of ozone season NOx reductions from cooking and water heating
• Emissions Control Programs - Create a table of state and federal emissions control programs with timing and impacting pollutants
