GWS - Fab Island Challenge

Project Overview

This repository contains the prototype developed for the Fab Island Challenge Hackathon in Bali. The project was designed to address a unique set of challenges focused on sustainable technology, digital fabrication, and localized solutions for Bali's community and ecosystem.

About the Challenge

The Fab Island Challenge is an international hackathon promoting sustainable and innovative solutions using digital fabrication and open-source technology. This event, hosted in Bali, brings together creators, engineers, and developers to address pressing environmental and social issues. The project explores methods to integrate eco-friendly solutions into Bali’s local environment and economy.

Project Purpose

This prototype aims to solve freshwater problems faced in Bali by leveraging technologies like IoT and LoRa. Our solution focuses on achieving:

  • Sustainability: Creating a solution with minimal environmental impact.
  • Community Empowerment: Enabling local communities to monitor and manage freshwater resources effectively.
  • Low Environmental Impact: Using energy-efficient IoT and LoRa technologies for data collection and transmission.
  • Scalability and Adaptability: Designing the solution to be expandable and easily adaptable for other regions facing similar water challenges.

Features

  • Digital Fabrication Integration: Utilizing tools and materials that support sustainable production.
  • Real-Time Water Monitoring: Using IoT sensors to monitor water quality and levels.
  • Data Transmission via LoRa: Employing LoRa technology for long-range, low-power communication.
  • User-Friendly Interface: A streamlined interface for easy access to key functionalities.

Technology Stack

  • Frontend: [ HTML, CSS, JavaScript]
  • Backend: [ Node.js, Express]
  • Other Tools: LoRa for data transmission, IoT sensors for real-time water monitoring
