3: Step 2 – View the data
- The File Map button returns you to the matrix selection window (see Step 1 - Select the data).
Note: any changes made to the data will be lost if you do not save before leaving the current matrix.
-
The Save button saves the modifications carried out on the matrix during visualization.
-
A text label identifies the data indicating the SDIF signature and the name of the displayed matrix.
-
The ViewPoints button opens a custom viewpoint management window (see View Points).
-
The Init view button resets the camera to its initial position.
The Settings +/- button is used to display/hide the "settings" area of the interface.
This part of the interface contains the commands for viewing/browsing in the data:
- Speed: determines the speed at which the camera moves (see Movements).
- Moving Mode: determines the movement mode (absolute / "free" / or centered on a point) (see Movements).
- xxx Scale: adjust the scales of the various parameters and time (see Scaling).
- Color:: opens a color adjustment window (see Colors).
- Grid/Lines: choose to observe the data in the form of a grid or a series of curves.
- Audio: opens the audio options management window — currently nor working :(
The Edit +/- button is used to display/hide the "Edit" area of the interface.
This part of the interface contains the commands for editing data. The editing parameters offer the possibility to determine an editing area around a given point, to choose an editing precision, as well as the editing modes and profiles (see Editing).
-
The field buttons at the right allow you to choose, among the fields of the SDIF matrix (or columns), the one you wish to observe (ordinate representation) and on which the editing operations will be carried out (see Description parameters). They also indicate the values of all fields for a given point.
-
The Current point info zone gives the position (time and number of the element, i.e. line number in the SDIF matrix) of the selected point (see Data visualization).
-
The 2D View button opens a window for viewing the data in two cross-sections (see Slice views) at the selected point in the data.
-
The Sonagram button opens a window for viewing the data as a sonogram (see Sonogram).
-
The "scroller" of reduction in x makes it possible to lighten the visualization by reducing the number the elements.
-
The X-Parameter button is used to select one of the data fields as the abscissa for data observation (see Description parameters). By default, we observe the data with lines (elements) of the matrix in this dimension.
-
The Time Selection zone and cursor allow to select a more or less precise time zone from the data set and to move it (see Time selection).
The main part of the SDIF-Edit window is dedicated to 3D data visualization. The navigation in this part is done using the keys of the keyboard or the mouse according to detailed modalities in the next section.
It is important to note the possibility of selecting a point, by clicking on it with the mouse. This point is then represented by a white sphere (see Figure). It can then be moved through the data using the CTRL key + the directional arrows. The up and down keys move it in the SDIF frames, i.e. in time; the left and right keys move it orthogonally, i.e. through the different elements of the same frame.
The values of the various fields of the description for this point and its position are indicated on the interface. It will be the center of the data area to be edited (see section Editing), and used as a reference for cross-sectional views (see Slice views), and moves (see Movements).
