udev rules can be used to differentiate devices in meaningful ways. They are also difficult to use.
- It works best if the devices are on independent ports.
- The two USB 3 ports on the Odroid XU4 are actually on a USB hub together, the "second" host port us attached to the Realtek Ethernet chip.
- user udev rules seem to work best if they are loaded last
- actually making them work seems impossible
These mappings are dependent on which port each camera is plugged into and seem to be consistent between boots.
Camera | Port | Mapping | Bus/Device (@boot) | device |
---|---|---|---|---|
even | bottom | 4-1.1:1.0 | bus/usb/004/003 | video6 |
odd | top | 4-1.2:1.0 | bus/usb/004/004 | video7 |
