Welcome to the exocortex wiki!

In here we are tracking the features and the development efforts of the exocortex project (the engine behind the soon-to-appear sotono project).

The beginings of this system were first discussed on a public Google wave, but the main contents of it are now being transfered to this platform so look around if you want to know more about the project or even if you want to help out with anything at all.

Basic concepts

The system revolves around just a few basic concepts that are described here and that pertain to either an item of information that was gathered or to a specific user:

  • Importance: This pertains to the items gathered;
  • Urgency: Also pertains to an item;
  • Availability: The availability index of the user;
  • Location: This one is relevant to both items of information and the users.

  • User Account Management - Detailing the user account management page;

  • Core Messaging Service - The messaging system(s?) used by the core services, the message semantics, etc;

  • Core Data Store - Data storage solutions for the core system;

  • Collector Infrastructure - The current Perl infrastructure for gathering all the data the users' want to see processed;

  • Data Analyzers - Detailing the components that parse and react to every piece of data the system gathers;

  • Butlers - The agents that represent each user of the system and are responsible for deciding what should be shown, in what circumstances and also for communicating with their users.
