My preferred build order:
- MAX3237.
- Check for shorts between the pins on the LM1117 with a multimeter.
- LM1117.
- Ceramic capacitors.
- Resistors.
- Diode (optional, USB only)
- Tantalum capacitors.
- Tactile switch.
- Power pin header and/or USB socket.
- Power up. Check voltage. Check reset pulled low when switch is pressed.
- ESP-12E/F.
- Power up. Check blue light flashes on ESP12 module. Check it flashes again after reset pressed.
- Remaining pin headers.
- Trial run programming.
- D-sub connector.
